Running a purifier through the night
From the FULMINARE air log
The night shift is where a small purifier either becomes furniture or becomes a return. It has to run for hours next to a sleeping person and give them nothing to notice.
What the low setting sounds like
The P05 listing puts its sleep mode around 22 decibels, which in a dark room reads as texture rather than sound: below a fridge two rooms away, near the rustle of a duvet. If you can hear it, it is usually the surface it stands on; a folded cloth under the base settles a resonant dresser.
Start early, not at lights-out
High speed is for the empty room. Run it loud while you brush your teeth and read; by the time you lie down, the room is done and the low setting only has to hold it. Starting the tower as you close your eyes gets the loud hour exactly when you want silence.
Kids rooms and the night light
The night light models were built for this shift: a soft glow that stands in for the hallway door left ajar, on a unit quiet enough for a crib-distance shelf. The glow switches off for kids who sleep better in the dark; the fan does not care either way.
The timer question
The 680 sq ft tower carries a 4, 8 and 12 hour timer, which suits people who only want the night covered. For the small towers our answer is simpler: leave the low setting on. The draw is small, and a room only stays finished while something keeps finishing it.
