A dog does not stay in one room, and neither does what it sheds. Homes with animals are the strongest case for thinking in rooms, not in units.

Start where the animal sleeps

The bed, the crate, the corner of the couch that was never officially granted: that room carries the heaviest load and earns the first tower. The second goes where you sleep, because doors only slow hair down, they do not stop it.

The vacuum is the other half

A purifier deals with what floats; the carpet holds what has landed, and every footstep re-launches a little of it. Vacuum first, then let the tower run on high for an hour, and the two stop working against each other.

Dust without pets

Bookshelves, carpets and street-facing windows keep a slow snow falling in any home. The daily answer is unglamorous: the low setting, all day, in the room you use most. What changes is not one dramatic afternoon but how soon the shelf needs wiping again.

Believe the filter face

With animals in the house, check the cartridge monthly rather than seasonally. The first gray face will probably surprise you, and from then on the tower is telling you its own schedule. The two-packs exist because almost nobody with a pet stops at one room.
